Onward Ticket Proof — What Travellers Should Know
Proof of onward travel means showing you intend to leave a country after you arrive — often a departing flight, bus, or ferry plan. Airlines on some routes ask for it at check-in; some destinations mention it in entry rules. Exact rules vary by country and carrier, so always check official sources for your trip.
A sample onward ticket from a generator can help you decide dates and see a clear itinerary layout. It is useful for planning. It is not the same as a reservation an airline can retrieve.
When a sample is enough (planning only)
If you are still deciding your open-jaw or exit date, a dummy onward itinerary can sit in your notes. Mark it as a sample so you never confuse it with a booking.
When you need verification
If staff will look up a PNR, or the visa checklist says “confirmed flight reservation,” a sample will not satisfy that. Options include a refundable ticket from the airline, a temporary hold placed by an authorized agent, or a dedicated verifiable onward-reservation product that creates a real PNR.
Stay honest
Do not treat a generated sample as a way to “pass” an official check. NeedReturn’s PDFs are watermarked SAMPLE – NOT VALID FOR TRAVEL for that reason.
